Photos: Ondo lawmaker survives assasination attempt
An Ondo State House of Assembly member, Soji Akinkurolere, survived an assassination attempt on Monday January 6th at his home in Okitipupa in Ondo state thanks to one of his trusted aides.
Sahara Reporters reports that Mr Akinkurolere's aide foiled the assassination attempt when 5 gunmen raided the lawmaker's private residence. Akinkurolere escaped with his family, without harm.
"I was on the other side of the road when I saw a vehicle parked some distance from the residence with men inside," a neighbor in Okitipupa told SaharaReporters. "I was surprised when I saw a man, whom had been sitting in the front seat of the car, come down from the residence and start making phone calls. Immediately he dropped the calls, he tapped the other guys seated in the back seat and they headed to the home of Honorable Akinkurolere. The last thing I heard was sporadic gunshots."
The five gunmen turned up at residence Monday evening demanding to see the Assemblyman. An argument broke out with his aide, and gun shots were fired. The noise and call from the aide alerted Akinkurolere and his family who escaped out of the backdoor.
Gunmen searched the residence for an hour and caused property damage to buildings and vehicles with their random shooting.
SaharaReporters called the lawmaker and his family for comment, but calls were were not returned.
Okitipupa Divisional Police Station would not comment on the assassination attempt, but vehicles belonging to the Assemblyman, marked with bullet holes, could be seen parked outside.
A source said the case had been turned over to the criminal investigation department at Command Headquarters in Akure.
Ondo State Police Spokesman, Wole Ogodo, confirmed the case had been transferred, and a business man has been arrested in connection with the assassination attempt, and is helping police with their inquiries.
Sahara Reporters read the statement given by the suspect in which he wrote he did not send anyone to kill the lawmaker.
In the same statement, the suspect said he was both a supporter of the lawmaker, helping him win his assembly seat, and a frequent critic of the lawmaker on social media.

31year former Aston Villa, Everton, West Ham & German midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has come out as gay. But he waited to retire from football before revealing his sexual preference.
Hitzlsperger, who retired in September 2013 due to a knee injury yesterday told a German newspaper
"I'm coming out about my homosexuality because I want to move the discussion about homosexuality among professional sportspeople forwards. In England, Italy & Germany being a homosexual is no big thing, at least not in the dressing room"
"The awareness of being gay was a long and difficult process. Only in recent years has it dawned on me that I would prefer to live with another man. I've never been ashamed of my sexuality"

Popular Lagos pastor Dr. Sign Fireman arrested over alleged ritual murder of virgin girl
Controversial Lagos miracle pastor Pastor Ofuche Ukoha, popularly known as Dr. Sign Fireman, has been arrested by Lagos police over alleged ritual murder of a 12 year old girl.

"Sign Fireman has been implicated in a ritual murder scandal involving a boy in his church who strangled a 12 year old girl while trying to obtain feces from her for ritual purposes.
The disclosure of Pastor Fireman's involvement in the scandal was made by an eighteen year old boy paraded by the police in Lagos. The teenage suspect (pictured above) stated during the parade that he was sent on the ritual mission by Pastor Fireman.
He said he had always dreamt of becoming rich and had approached the pastor personally, after years of attending the church without his own financial miracle happening, Mr. Fireman reportedly told him the way to get his Sign for finance was to get the feces of a virgin girl. The suspect said Pastor Fireman promised him a reward of N100,000 for the assignment.
The suspect narrated how he sought and killed the 12 year old girl simply named "Bose", the daughter of poor lady on his street.
Confirming the incident to a Lagos correspondent this morning, Lagos Police PRO, Mrs. Ngozi Braide said Pastor Fireman was arrested on Tuesday five days after he was declared wanted by the police. She said investigation has commenced regarding his involvement.
She also said the outcome of the investigation would soon be made public.
With his church receiving hordes of miracle seekers every weekend, Pastor Fireman's church auditorium at Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos is reportedly notorious for using semi-nude female ushers.

The Glo/CAF African Player of the Year Award 2014 will hold tomorrow Thursday January 9th at Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos and one of its nominees, Super Eagles and Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, will be specially flown into Lagos for the ceremony in a jet provided by his club, Chelsea.

How 18-Yr-Old Boy Killed Girl, 12, For Money Ritual On New Year’s Eve

The police in Lagos State, on Monday, said they have arrested an 18-year-old boy, Ikechukwu Friday, who allegedly killed a 12-year-old girl for money ritual. According Ikechukwu, a pastor he asked for money instructed him to kill a young girl and obtain her faeces. He said the pastor promised him N100,000 if he was able to accomplish the task.
I attend a popular church around Ketu Street, Aguda but I live with my parents in Badagry. I just finished secondary school and I have been very broke so I approached the pastor for money but he told me that I should strangulate a little girl. He said when strangulating the girl, she would pass out faeces. The pastor said I should obtain the faeces and bring it to him. He said if I could do this, he would give me N100,000. "So, on December 30, 2013, I approached a young girl, Bose Ogoja. Her mother sells food in Badagry and I usually patronise them, so she trusted me. I told the girl that I wanted to show her something and that she should follow me. So I took her to an abandoned NITEL building and locked the door.
"I pressed her neck tightly and she passed out faeces. I was, however, not able to get the faeces because I was caught before I could escape."
The suspect, an indigene of Onitsha, Anambra State, pleaded for mercy, adding that this was his first crime.
State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, said the boy was arrested by neighbours in the area and handed over to the Badagry Police Division.
Braide said the pastor, who allegedly gave the boy the instruction, had been arrested and was already cooperating with the police.
While displaying the gruesome picture of the slain girl, Braide said: "He was arrested in an uncompleted building. The security guard manning the building told the police that he saw the boy entering the building with the girl.
"He said a few minutes later, he heard the girl screaming and later saw the boy leaving. The security
guard raised the alarm and the neighbours were alerted and they arrested the boy."
On entering the building, the discovered that the girl was dead.
"The picture of the girl's corpse shows that the girl was naked and defecated on the floor."

LOL! Fans Criticized Actor Benson Okonkwo Over Claim He Carried Only 1 Pack of 'Indomie' and 'Bobo' to Motherless Babies Home on Birthday
When the actor decided to celebrate his birthday on December 31st with children of a motherless babies home in Anambra Awka, little did he know that his intention of a noble deed would turn into a scandal which will make some of his fans turn haters. The photos he took at the home has become the subject of criticisms and tongue lashing on social media as his fans claimed he only presented a pack of Indomie noodle and 'Bobo' children's milk drink to the poor kids.
But Splendormag can authoritatively tell you the fast rising actor actually donated a lot to the children that day which was not properly captured by the photographer. Looking at the background of the second picture above for instance, you'll notice some large bags of rice. Can you see it?
